A picture might be worth a thousand words, but it doesn't tell the whole story. That's essentially the idea behind a photo series by Bangkok-based artist Chompoo Baritone. Inspiration is everywhere on the Internet — pictures that have been cropped to create a particular look, but leaves out some important details. And the Internet is almost the perfect place to distort reality.
Chompoo focuses on Instagram in particular, however. As a platform, it's home to countless people trying to reinvent themselves in photos, or show the world a side of themselves that might not truly exist. Instagram is all about the filters, of course, but it doesn't take much in the way of digital wizardry for users to make themselves look better — it's more a matter of not including everything in the frame. Chompoo gives us a welcome reminder that a whole world lies beyond the border of the frame.
